Church Bells and Boat Horns

On the first cords of Auld Lang Syne I’m transported to the childhood room and kitchen with my ma and da singing and dancing along with the first-footers who, brought the lump of coal so we’d never be cold, and the cake and whiskey so we’d never hunger or thirst.

Maderia cake

Oh the Madeira cake, shortbread, and the cordial! What treats! Being allowed to stay up until we heard the church bells, and the great boats blowing their horns on the Clyde, at midnight. I remember the laughter. I remember all the visitors singing, and clasping hands, and dancing, and being kissed and cuddled and wished a happy new year with such exuberant joy. Oh, they were fun times!

4.1.2

May 2014 be full of fun times for you and yours.

May it be the year all your dreams come true and inspire even greater dreams.

May it be the year you are filled with so much love and joy and peace that you can’t contain it all.

May you have health and strength like you’ve never known.

And may you always have more than enough to easily pay your own way and be generous to others.

May God bless you and keep you all through this brand new year, and may you know Him more intimately than you ever imagined possible.

God’s richest blessings be yours!

Happy New Year! And, “Aw the best frae oor hoose tae yours!”

Elizabeth, May God richly bless you with good health and happiness. We started our New Year’s Eve by going to see “SAVING MR. BANKS.” Thank you for recommending it. The lump in my throat felt like it would burst many times during the showing. We have always liked Mary Poppins and Walt Disney. Understand the writer of this classic book a lot better. God bless and keep you in His care. Marley & Me

Happy New Year to you too Patti. Oh, we LOVED to get Madeira cake and cordial as kids. Mind, we only got that at the new year so it has always remained a very special treat for me, :-)

Wishing you and yours abundant blessings for this new year Patti, and looking forward to your beautiful photos of 2014.
