And We’re Off!

I started back at the gym this morning. I Decided that I needed to be there by 8:00 a m, and that I was going to do the big treadmill. the big elliptical, the big recumbent bike, the big stair-master and finish it all off with a round of Zumba-toning. And you know what happened? I did it all!! Whoo-hoo! Well, I actually only did half of the Zumba class. But I’m happy that I got at least an hour and a half of exercise in.

What about you? Have you joined the gym? Or maybe you’ve made the decision to get fit by walking or running? statistics say that folk who join the gym after the new year will only stick at it until Feb the 12th or 14th (?). Since I’m paid up for four-months I can assure you I’m not going to be counted among them statistics. I will for-sure get my monies worth. (Actually, I got such a great deal at the gym I’m sworn to secrecy about it. :-) )

I’ve also started a food-log. Now, that might not see it passed midnight tonight, but the plan is to keep track of every little morsel I’m eating or drinking so I can see if and where I need to make change. I’d like to be healthier and stronger (and younger, and more beautiful). Ha-ha, healthy and strong is the goal.

What are your health goals for this wonderful new year?

I do yoga faithfully, and I love it. So glad your back at the gym!

      Hi OSU,
It must be great when you get to the point in yoga that you know all the stances and forms and can achieve them with grace. I tried yoga (for a little while) but I kept falling over, yes even on the floor exercises. Maybe once I’m fit and strong I’ll give it another go and I’ll be able to hold a pose. :-)

I’m cheering for you Elizabeth – woohoo! And that’s my exercise for the day. :) I wish I could say I’ve been as determined as you are. Thus far I’ve been quite lazy about exercise, (but then I did work my hind-end off at the end of last month moving so that’s my excuse for not being as active right now, or at least not yet).
Truly, it is fabulous that you’ve gotten off to such a great start and I wish you much success in feeling healthier and stronger. Go, go, go!

Good for you on the gym! And the price! By the end of four months, you may be hooked. Always working on healthier and stronger, more fit. My eating regimen took a nose dive, and I quit logging food somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are too many things I don’t normally eat, and there’s no telling what is in them. Starting anew.

Yes, Patti the holidays usually throws a lot of us off the healthy eating track. All the best for getting back on the right track in the coming months. :-)

I’m a walker wanna-be pilates participant. As for food–yes, I eat. My health goal for the year…to be alive when 2014 shows up.

Push-ups and sit-ups before work help me a lot. When I’m less occupied in the evenings, I take my dog for a walk. Since I love to play soccer with friends, my Saturday mornings are mostly occupied with the game. Good food is a mixture of the traditional and western. A tasty combination if you ask me. I wish you all the best, Liza.

I’d like to shed ten pounds. Today. Ha! I’d settle for two months. I didn’t make my usual several resolutions this year. I may be trying to lose the same ten pounds as last year. Need I say more. Going to the gym is a good thing, Elizabeth. You will be healthier for it, I’m sure. Blessings to you…

Congratulations! I love your positive attitude.

I hope to lose at least 10 more pounds. I was eating much healthier before the holidays, and I need to get back to that lifestyle. My doctor insists I will feel better if I spend a few minutes a day on the treadmill, but I haven’t started doing that yet. My son bought me some yoga books, but so far the only position I’ve tried is one involving laying down, which I am very good at!

Ha-ha, that’s my favorite yoga position too Carol. I don’t seem to stumble so much there. :-)

I would like to lose 10 lbs, although one of my friends once said, “You’re no bigger than a pea fart!” (Whatever that means) I know I can reach this goal if I cut out soda. In fact, hard as it was, I managed to go an entire day without a Cola yesterday. You’re right about the gym statistics. I joined the beginning of last year and made it to March. Sad thing is that I’d paid two months in which I didn’t even go. I have a legitimate excuse though. Tendonitits. (Or however you spell it)

That was awesome Shonte’. A whole day without a soda! I equate that to me trying to go a day without my tea… Ain’t gonna happen. LOL :-)

Being a ‘pinchy’ Scot I’m hoping the fact I paid for four months (even at the bargain rate) will keep me faithful.

My weight loss journey started almost ten months ago even though at the time I had my doubts that I could ever lose any weight. I started to make better food choices and would attend zumba vibe classes as much as I could. I was hooked to zumba because I love to dance. The instructors, the atmosphere and not to mention the social aspect is what keeps me attending classes. I look forward to meeting with other members and instructors who have become friends and have shared their weight loss success.
