STAND!

armorofgod2

I brought the holy bible to the battlefield of life

And tried to look up scripture, while wading through the fight

But as I turned the pages, looking for the perfect verse,

The enemy came bearing down with darts,  and mark, and curse.

~

I struggled through the battle, and I barely made it out

My bible it lay torn in shreds, and scattered all about

I didn’t know the scriptures, I was lost without the page

While the enemy kept charging like a madman in a rage

~

I didn’t have a single word with which to take my stand

Though the weapons of my warfare were there within my hands

I hadn’t kept the Written Word  down in this  heart of mine

I’d never stored it up inside – I didn’t take the time

~

I knew the holy bible, (in tatters on the floor)

Was the key to winning warfare, spiritual and more

For in it lie the weapons – supernaturally empowered

And all we need to fight the fight by year or month or hour

~

I’m picking-up the pages and devouring every word

So next time trouble comes this way I’m ready with the Sword

I’ll be dressed in God’s full armor with its power, and its Might

The weapons He’s supplied to me with which to win the fight

~

Don’t wait until the battle starts before you store the Word

Cherish and preserve it now for when you need that Sword.

And don’t forget your Helmet, your Breastplate, and your shoes

Your Shield to stop those firy darts; the Belt held tight by Truth.

~

For they can take away your, leather-bound, your CD, and your phone

But they can never take the Living Word from a heart with Jesus on its throne.

<< Ephesians 6 >>
New International Version 1984

11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Thanks Julie. I was at a bible study the other day and it came to me that those who hate God can take away a physical book, but no-one can ever take away the Word of God hidden in the heart.

      :-)
When it get’s to the part where they’re singing, “I’m in the Lord’s Ar-mee” it brings tears to my eyes. I used to teach that to the kids in Vacation Bible School many moons ago.

Mine does too Julie, but I have applied the Word of Faith in SO many battles; it’s the only reason I’m still standing. :-)

Wee note, yours is still my very favorite blog!!
